Child dies in dog attack, police say
According to Cleveland Police, a child lost their life in what is suspected to be a dog-related incident. The call was made to a residence on Hardale Grove, in Dormanstown, Redcar, just after 1:30 PM BST, following concerns about a child’s wellbeing.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the child deceased, with the force indicating the death was likely caused by a canine bite. A dog was found dead on the street, while another was taken into custody at the premises. The BBC inquired about the child’s age and the breeds involved in the incident.
Redcar and Cleveland District Commander Emily Harrison confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that police remained at the scene. “This is a deeply upsetting and tragic event, and we are with the family in their grief,” she stated. “We urge anyone with relevant details or worries to contact us.”
