Woman, 19, killed in dog attack at house
A 19-year-old woman was fatally injured in a dog attack at a residence in Essex. Emergency services arrived at Long Hide, located in the village of Leaden Roding near Dunmow, at 22:45 BST on Friday.
Although the emergency services worked tirelessly to save her, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the force. A 37-year-old man from Dunmow has been taken into custody on suspicion of allowing his dog to behave dangerously, leading to the fatal injury.
The canine involved in the incident was confiscated, and specialist officers ensured the area was secure. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper expressed condolences, stating that the community would be deeply affected.
“My thoughts and those of the entire Essex Police team are with the woman’s family and loved ones,” he said. “We will have officers stationed in the area today for anyone with information or concerns to share.”
Investigations are being led by experienced detectives to determine the exact circumstances. The police are seeking public assistance, including CCTV and dashcam footage, related to incident number 1419 of 10 April.
