Two arrested after boy killed and two hurt in crash
Authorities received a call to Greenfield Road in Flitwick, Bedfordshire, at 23:50 BST on Friday following a collision that claimed the life of one boy and left two others with severe injuries. The crash involved a vehicle and three teenage boys, two of whom were on a bicycle and the third on a scooter. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two were hospitalized with critical wounds.
The driver fled the area but a damaged blue BMW was later discovered on a neighboring street, according to police. A man and a woman, both in their 20s, have since been taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, as well as offenses related to exceeding the prescribed limit and surpassing the specified level of a controlled substance.
“Our primary concern is the family of the boy who lost his life in this incident, along with the families of the two injured teenagers,” said Det Sgt Shona Searle from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit. “We are pursuing multiple leads to determine the exact circumstances of the crash and urge anyone who saw the event or has dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage to contact us immediately.”
