Four Killed in Second Turkish School Shooting in Two Days
A school shooting in southern Turkey has left at least four fatalities and multiple casualties, according to regional officials. The attack occurred at Ayser Calik Secondary School in the Kahramanmaras region, as reported by local news outlets. Details about the victims and the attacker remain unclear, with no official confirmation yet provided.
This follows a similar incident the previous day when an ex-student attacked a high school in the southern region, injuring 16 individuals and then taking his own life. Kahramanmaras Governor Mukerrem Unluer stated that the attack resulted in 20 injuries, with several victims in critical condition. Authorities have not yet identified the motive behind the Wednesday attack and are conducting an investigation.
Local Turkish media indicated the assailant entered two classrooms armed with five firearms and seven ammunition magazines, reportedly inherited from his father.
“The sound of gunfire was very intense,” a reporter for Turkish broadcaster NTV stated, noting the “panic in front of the school.”
Video footage captured the aftermath, depicting onlookers gathered in groups, with some recording on their mobile devices, while emergency vehicles departed the area.
