Asylum seekers ‘gang-raped vulnerable woman on beach as she made her way home from night out, with one filming ordeal’, trial told

A woman in her thirties was subjected to a brutal gang rape by three asylum seekers, who laughed and spat at her while one captured the harrowing event on video, according to court testimony. The incident occurred during her return from a night out with friends, leaving her bloodied and unconscious as the assault unfolded.

Attackers targeted woman on secluded stretch of Brighton beach

The perpetrators reportedly reduced her to ‘meat,’ dragging her to a secluded stretch of Brighton’s beach where they took turns sexually assaulting her. The woman, whose identity remains protected, described being left in a disoriented state, though mobile phone footage suggested one of the attackers posed for the camera and grinned.

Prosecution outlines case of predatory crime

“These defendants didn’t just attack her—they targeted her with calculated intent,” said Hanna Llewellyn-Waters, opening the prosecution’s case. “She was left alone, vulnerable, and unable to resist after being separated from her companion during the early hours of October 4 last year.”

Llewellyn-Waters emphasized that the attackers viewed her as a tool for their gratification, describing the assault as both degrading and entertaining. The woman, according to her account, felt her soul was slipping away as she was repeatedly abused.

Evidence includes drug use and camera footage

The prosecution claimed the woman may have been spiked with drugs at the Horizon nightclub earlier that evening, despite declining an initial offer of substances. During the attack, she heard men laughing and another man verbally abusing her, with one individual grabbing her mouth and spitting on her as he filmed.

“I could see a light in my face, like the flash of a phone camera,” she recounted. “There was a foreign accent saying, ‘Dirty bitch, dirty bitch’—it felt as if my soul was leaving my body.”

Defendants face multiple charges

Iranian Abdulla Amih Ahmadi, 26, and Egyptian Ibrahim Alshafe, 25, are each accused of raping the woman twice. Karin Al-Danasurt, 20, an Egyptian national, is charged with four counts of rape through encouraging the assault and sharing intimate videos. The trio resided at Cisswood House Hotel in Horsham, a Home Office-approved accommodation for asylum seekers and immigration applicants.

Footage reveals chilling details

Jurors were shown clips of the woman motionless on her back, eyes closed, as Ahmadi and Alshafe penetrated her. One video, found on Al-Danasurt’s phone, depicted Ahmadi covering his face with his hand, possibly to hide from the camera. Another pixelated clip showed Alshafe lifting his head to pose for the lens, smiling and sticking his tongue out.

Aftermath and suspect’s departure

Ahmadi fled the Cisswood Hotel the day after the alleged assaults, relocating to an address in Crewe without Home Office approval. He was apprehended by police the following week. The trial continues at Hove Crown Court, with the prosecution arguing the attackers exploited her intoxicated state to achieve their sexual aims.
