Child killed in suspected dog attack was baby girl
A three-month-old infant died following a suspected dog attack in Redcar, authorities reported. Police were dispatched to an address on Hardale Grove, Dormanstown, approximately 1:30 PM BST on Thursday after receiving concerns about a child’s safety.
Cleveland Police stated that officers shot one dog on the street and another at the property. A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to control a dog that caused a fatal injury. He was released on conditional bail.
Police indicated that the infant’s death is believed to have resulted from a dog bite.
Meanwhile, a 31-year-old woman sustained an arm injury during the incident and was treated at a hospital. Both dogs were examined by a specialist officer, with no evidence suggesting they were of a prohibited breed.
