Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say
Arrest and Release
Hertfordshire Police confirmed on Tuesday that an unnamed Strictly Come Dancing star arrested last October on rape suspicions will not be charged. The individual, whose identity remains confidential, was taken into custody on 13 October 2025 and released on bail for further investigation.
Police Statement
“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape. The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday 6 January until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, to allow further enquiries to take place, will face no further action. Early advice was sought from the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives determined that there was insufficient evidence to bring forward criminal charges.”
Earlier Arrest
This follows the arrest of another man connected to the BBC dance show in August, on suspicion of rape. The Metropolitan Police indicated at the time that he was also under investigation for “non-consensual intimate image abuse.” The role of this individual in the program remains unclear.
Show Details
The BBC dance competition, which runs from September to December, is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. The incident involving the unnamed star is not linked to the most recent series of the show.
