Meghan and Prince Harry stayed in Kate and William’s favorite £3,000-a-night hotel suite on their quasi-royal tour of Jordan

Shared accommodations with the Royal Family

During their short visit to Jordan, Meghan and Prince Harry occupied the identical £3,000-per-night suite previously favored by the Prince and Princess of Wales. The choice of lodging reflects Harry’s alignment with his brother’s preferences, as he selected the same room in William’s preferred hotel for the trip.

Prince William’s affinity for the St Regis in Amman extends beyond personal taste. The royal couple has stayed there before, notably during a 2023 visit linked to the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein to Rajwa Al Saif. The hotel’s website highlights its unique appeal, positioning the Royal Suite as a “sanctuary of grandeur” with bespoke amenities and a space designed for royalty.

Historical ties to Jordan

The connection between the British royal family and Jordan dates back decades. Kate, as a child in the early 1980s, resided in the country while her father, Michael Middleton, worked as a British Airways flight dispatcher. This historical link deepened when William forged a close bond with Crown Prince Hussein, a friendship cemented at Hussein’s 2021 wedding in Amman.

“I feel this friendship in the most personal of ways, as Jordan has always been part of my life,” King Charles stated during a 2021 visit. “His Majesty King Hussein came to the throne in 1952, the same year as my dear mother, the Queen. They would be of great mutual support to each other through the decades ahead.”

These ties further stretch back to the late Queen Elizabeth, who maintained a 40-year relationship with King Hussein before his death in 1999. The legacy of this connection continues to influence royal engagements in the region.

Luxurious suite details

The Royal Suite at the St Regis, a five-star hotel in Amman, features three bathrooms, a 24-hour on-call butler, and a living area spanning 363 square meters. Its balcony offers panoramic views of the city’s skyline, while the hotel’s description emphasizes “timeless elegance with modern sophistication” and “an atmosphere of true tranquillity.”

Despite the high-end accommodations, the couple opted to dine within their suite, enjoying meals in private. Additional rooms were booked for their entourage, including bodyguard Chris Sanchez, U.S.-based Chief of Staff Miranda Barbot, and advisor James Holt. The stay, arranged by the World Health Organization, lasted just 48 hours, during which King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Hussein did not meet them.

A St Regis source confirmed the hotel’s reputation as a premier destination for VIPs, noting that Prince William had stayed there prior. “All the VIPs stay here when they visit,” the representative said, adding that Harry and Meghan’s recent visit to Jordan followed the same pattern.
